For several centuries now, the
richness of the waters of Dax and the
famous peloid
(thermal mud derived from the prolonged maturation
of silt from the Adour river in contact with
hyperthermal water) have been sources of health
and well-being.
Indeed, the renown of our thermal
springs dates from Roman times.
Legend has it that a Roman centurion,
whose dog was riddled with rheumatism, left
the animal behind when he set off on campaign
and, upon his return, it was cured. This is
where the reputation of the thermal springs
at Dax was born.
